Six years old, and she’s sussed out the Easter Bunny already!
This year the geekdaddy and I made our best Easter Egg hunt yet. We found some printable Easter baskets, and placed them next to the kids beds the night before Easter Sunday. We hid colour coded eggs and bunnies – the geekson’s were blue, the geekdaughter’s yellow. We even printed little postcards from the Easter bunny explaining the colour coding and telling them which rooms the goodies were hidden in.
(I blame the Hewlett Packard Easter crafting event we’d been to the weekend before!)
It all went wrong when the geekdaddy popped into the geekdaughter’s bedroom to place the basket and instructions by her bed. Here eyes flicked open (it seems she’s a very light sleeper). “What are you doing Daddy?”
“Just checking in on you darling, go back to sleep”.
Thankfully she did.
In the morning there was much excitement and mad dashing around as the kids found all their hidden chocolate. They had a lovely time. And the geekson’s face when he was told he could eat as much chocolate as he liked for breakfast was a sight to be seen!
But the geekdaughter’s brain was obviously working on the problem of how the Easter bunny had managed to sneak into her bedroom. And she obviously remembered seeing her Daddy come in, because she outright asked him if he was the Easter Bunny.
In the face of a direct question, he crumbled.
She then went on to deduce that the Tooth Fairy is also Mummy and Daddy because “Fairies aren’t real, are they Daddy?”.
Then her thoughts turned to Santa Claus. The geekdaddy was starting to panic now.
“No” she eventually concluded. “Santa Claus is definitely real. Because you and Mummy don’t make those videos, do you?”.
